Cleansing is an essential step to your baby’s hygiene. It is also a special moment of bonding between you and your baby. Try and make this a calming and pleasurable time for you both.

Practical advice on baby’s daily hygiene

Get into the habit of always washing your hands before starting to cleanse baby’s skin.

Start by cleaning the eyes: damp a cotton ball with saline solution and gently wipe the eyelids and the corners of the eyes. Use a new cotton-ball for each eye.

For the ears, to prevent ear wax build-up, only clean the outer ear.

For the nose, use a cotton ball soaked with saline solution and carefully clean each nostril.

Cleanse the face as many times as necessary during the day. Preferably use a cleansing fluid which does not require any rinsing, or a cleansing lotion on a cotton pad, and rinse with a skin freshener. Renew until baby’s skin is completely clean. Our advice: don’t forget to check behind the ears.

Finally, brush baby’s hair with a special soft baby brush and then gently apply some “eau de soin” or skin freshener to his delicate scalp, to give that characteristic “loving baby smell”!

Cut baby’s nails regularly using special scissors with rounded ends. Our advice: choose a quiet moment, hold baby firmly against you and only cut that part of the nails which protrude.

During a walk, an afternoon snack-time, in the car… clean his hands with wipes and his face with some no-rinse cleansing fluid.

Baby’s skin is very delicate; do not hesitate to protect it with moisturizing products for the face or the body. If your baby’s skin is dry prefer products with “cold cream”.

Is Mustela natural?

Natural is not necessarily a synonymn for pure, safe or risk-free. Mustela’s ingredients are not all of the natural origin. Mustela never sttes nor implies this fact and therefore does not mislead consumers as some other competitive lines do. Furthermore, some ingredients useful for their cosmetic properties do not exist in a natural state and can only be obtained throught transformation from other origin.

Morevoer caution should be taken when natural means from plant origin. The notion of plant origin is linked to variability and therefore presents a risk of inconsistency in quality and purity leading to the possibility of undesirable impurities that are more or less detectable. The result could be skin intolerance. Consideration should also be given to the possibility of residues of solvents used during extractions from plants to obtain active ingredients. On the other hand, if the natural incredients derive from animal sources, risks for the mad cow disease should be kept in mind.
